Importance of research

Research has been a very vital part for me as it will help me construct products that my audience want and are demanding. I have used different techniques of research such as secondary and primary and also qualitative and quantitative. By using all these different techniques I am able collect more effective and useful data from which I will be able to create products that my audience demand.

From all my research I have found that there is an open market for a horror/thriller movie with a supernatural character that is mysterious. Also, from my secondary research of interviews with other directors I have found that the audience do not want a repetition of conventions such as 'gore and blood' themed movies. This is why I have been mainly basing my  secondary research on movies that do not have those conventions and rather have supernatural creatures that create enigmas and mystery. Through my quantitative research I've been able to quickly identify for example how many people prefer a horror and thriller crossover genre in my primary research of questionnaires. However, qualitative research has also been very vital as I was able to find out in detail what my audience wanted such as dark lighting, enigmas etc.

All of the different techniques of research have helped me understand what type of products my audience are demanding and also what codes and conventions from the horror/thriller genre I should include and will be most successful.
